The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) currently has a Fisheries Deepwater Research Panel that commenced in 2018, with the panel agreement due to expire in May 2025. MPI is extending the agreement to May 2026 to enable time for a panel refresh.

MPI also has a Highly Migratory and Inshore Fisheries Research Panel that is due to expire 30 June 2030.

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) currently has a Fisheries Deepwater Research Panel that commenced in 2018, with the panel agreement due to expire in May 2025. MPI is extending the agreement to May 2026 to enable time for a panel refresh.

MPI also has a Highly Migratory and Inshore Fisheries Research Panel that is due to expire 30 June 2030.

MPI is considering future arrangements for the current fisheries research panels. Tender documents for the new arrangement are expected to be released late 2025. If you have views on the future of these panels, please send feedback to [REDACTED]

In the meantime, MPI is willing to consider any interest of joining the current Highly Migratory and/or Inshore Fisheries and/or the Deepwater Fisheries Research Panels for projects between 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. Please contact Fetu Nokise [REDACTED] and Bethany Wren [REDACTED] by 10 June 2025 if you are interested. The evaluation of applications would be based on the previous tender processes for both Research Panels.

The Fisheries Research Services Document (FRSD) for 2025-2026 attached lists the projects proposed 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.
