In August 2021, Fire and Emergency New Zealand established the Operational Equipment Capability Provider Panel through an open tender process via the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS). The panel comprises experienced suppliers with the expertise, specialist knowledge, and proven track record to meet Fire and Emergency’s operational equipment goods and services requirements across four core categories and sixteen subcategories managed by Equipment and Logistics.

The initial term of the panel is due to expire on 15 August 2026, with two optional Rights of Renewal (RoR) of two years each. There remains an ongoing business need to procure goods and services through this panel arrangement to support operational response requirements. The panel underpins the delivery of essential Fire and Emergency operational capabilities and promotes consistency, quality, and efficiency in the sourcing of critical equipment.

Fire and Emergency is now refreshing the Operational Equipment Capability Provider Panel to provide new suppliers with the opportunity to demonstrate their capability across the four core equipment categories and sixteen subcategories. We are seeking suppliers who can consistently deliver goods and services to a high standard, on time, in full, and within budget.

Over the next four years, Fire and Emergency expects to spend an estimated $4.9 million across the four core categories of operational equipment. These categories include a diverse range of goods, such as firefighting hoses, portable pumps, and Class A firefighting chemicals. Given the breadth and criticality of this equipment, procurement and supply arrangements must be efficient, effective, and fit for purpose.
