weathertightness failures and associated roofing, guttering, downpipe, flashing, penetration
sealing, barge/fascia repairs, making good, rot repairs, service removals and Woodtex ceiling
remediation works.
i. General description of the Project: This procurement is for the Foxton School Blk 31 4
& 10 Roofing Replacement and Block 10 Hall Woodtex Ceiling Tile Replacement
Contract Works. The project involves remediation of weathertightness failures and
associated roofing, guttering, downpipe, flashing, penetration sealing, barge/fascia
repairs, making good, rot repairs, removal and replacement of existing Woodtex
ceiling tiles in hall building.
ii. Outcome sought: Achieve durable, compliant, and fully weathertight roofing systems
for Blocks 3, 4 and 10, including the replacement of end-of-life roofing materials,
translucent roofing, gutters, downpipes and remediation of associated damage.
Achieve new, lightweight ceiling system in the hall.
iii. History: A 10YPP specialist report identified significant condition and
weathertightness issues. This project is included in the current 5YA programme.
iv. Overview of the programme of which this project is a part: The works form part of
the School’s current 5YA programme and are funded from 5YA and 5YA
supplementary funding.
v. Requirements for phasing and / or staged handover of the project: The works
include replacement of corrugated and translucent roofing, including Solasafe
polycarbonate over safety mesh, gutter and downpipe replacement, flashing,
penetration sealing, barge/fascia repairs, Block 10 hall Woodtex ceiling remediation,
associated making good, rot repairs and service removals. The works will need to be
planned and managed to minimise disruption to the live school environment and
maintain safe school operations throughout construction.
