Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking proposals from up to two experienced training providers to deliver a national training programme for Health Coaches working in Integrated Primary Mental Health and Addiction (IPMHA) services. We are looking for training providers (or collaborations of providers) who can design and deliver a nationally consistent, culturally responsive programme that reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equips Health Coaches with the skills and confidence to deliver safe, effective support in primary care.
The programme will support around 130–140 new Health Coaches each year from February 2026. Training must align with the Health Coach Profile and IPMHA Learning Outcomes, and prepare Health Coaches to work within a holistic, equity-focused model of care. We expect delivery to be engaging and practical, with strong use of virtual learning (alongside blended or in-person options), supported by local mentoring, observation, and assessment.
We are seeking providers who can manage all aspects of programme delivery, including scheduling, administration, monitoring, and evaluation. Providers must also be willing to collaborate with each other to ensure nationwide consistency in quality and outcomes.
This opportunity will be of interest to training organisations with expertise in:
Workforce development in health and social services.
Delivering inclusive, culturally responsive training (particularly reflecting Māori and Pacific perspectives).
Designing practical, interactive learning that supports behaviour change coaching, reflective practice, and peer learning.
