This Request for Tender (RFT) is for the construction of the New Lynn to Avondale Shared Path Project. This project involves the construction of a 2.9km shared path between the New Lynn Station and Blockhouse Bay Road and includes bridging and underpass structures. The route of the path is generally within the rail reserve adjacent to the North Auckland Railway Line. The pathway provides a social resource of significance due to its function, its multiplicity of use and its importance to the well-being of the community through permitting the community to undertake healthy activities in a safe environment. The construction of the works includes a number of challenges. The works will be constructed in close proximity (alongside and below) to KiwiRail's electrified tracks and infrastructure. Furthermore, there are underground services along the route, particularly within the rail corridor. Strict restrictions are imposed by KiwiRail to ensure safe separation of plant, people and material from their tracks and overhead electrification infrastructure, and operations that minimise disruption to rail traffic. The pathway crosses sensitive watercourses which require temporay crossings. Temporary construction accesses will also be required along the constrained alignment. Some of these will entail substantial temporary works through private properties, requiring careful planning and operation in order to minimise inconvenience to commercial and residential properties and occupants.
