Waimate District Council are looking to upgrade three mixed-use rural water supply schemes to meet the latest requirements of the Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand and the Acceptable Solutions requirements published by Taumata Arowai September 2025. The three schemes are:
• Cannington Motukaika Drinking Water Compliance Upgrade
• Waihaorunga Drinking Water Intake and Plant Compliance Upgrade
• Waikakahi Drinking Water Intake and Plant Compliance Upgrade (provisional)
Council is looking to award a design build contract for the upgrade of up to all three schemes( and may choose to award a separate contract for the supply of end-point treatment devices, depending on responses received.
The scope includes commissioning requirements and the on-going supply of all parts and consumables for the treatment devices selected. Councils in-house staff will operate the schemes and complete maintenance tasks post commissioning.
