The Far North District Road network is an expansive and variable network, providing critical connectivity for all our communities, residents and visitors. The challenge, and opportunity, for this Contract is developing and maintaining a service delivery environment that accommodates collaboration, optimisation and continual adaptation. In other words, providing maintenance services, and renewal programmes, that support Far North District Council’s vision.

We are seeking to appoint two motivated contractors to deliver these services to the highest affordable quality, whilst having the necessary care and consideration for the community they are delivering to. We are looking for suppliers that will work closely with Council and share responsibilities to inspect, manage, programme and deliver the necessary maintenance activities that will build and enable a resilient and reliable road network.

We have split the Far North District local road network into two contracts (the Far North Network - North and the Far North Network - South). At around 1,200km per network, these contracts bring an economy of scale to ensure sufficient resources can be committed to service the network full-time.

Council wants to partner in an open, transparent, flexible and collaborative way. We are keen to support local businesses that have the capacity and capability to help the Council maintain its road assets and infrastructure. Council is focusing on proactive approaches to network management, e.g. addressing faults early and introducing efficiencies enabling contractors to respond to faults easily. We want to provide flexibility to the Programme focus and funding to adapt to our changing network needs.

With a minimum term of five years and two possible extensions of three years and two years respectively, this Contract brings security of a stable workload for a supplier that understands the value of good quality routine maintenance and best practice asset management.
