Police’s partnership between iwi, Government and Non-Government organisations supports the wider system response to family harm that is tailored to local community need. This work sits under the initiative Whāngaia Ngā Pā Harakeke (WNPH).
As part of this initiative, Waitematā Police District (the ‘Buyer’) is now seeking a non-Government organisation (‘NGO’ or ‘the Supplier’) who understands the local context and has the necessary familiarity with their community and the WNPH Waitematā operations, to provide two full-time equivalent (FTE) Family Harm Support Workers.
These roles are essential in supporting Police in delivering timely support to individuals and whānau identified as ‘low risk’ through the (WNPH) assessment process.
The support workers will:
• Provide follow-up support via phone and/or face-to-face engagement where appropriate.
• Case manage all low-risk referrals received through the Safety Assessment Meeting.
• Conduct risk and needs assessments to ensure appropriate and effective interventions.
• Escalate cases as needed through an established triage process.
